• Never use your fingers to pull out stuck items or clogs. Plyers or tongs are preferable.
• If fibers or hair gets wrapped around the blades don’t try and pull them out. Instead, it should have come with a small tool you can use to turn the nut at the base of the unit, then press the red reset button in the center. The switch can then be flipped to restart.
• Odor reducers: Lemon wedges down the drain can do wonders. They are antibacterial and the peels are great to scrub the blades and the pipes all the way down, especially combined with the citric acid content.
• Clean your disposal every two weeks.

How to clean your garbage disposal for the best continual service.

To get your disposal good and clean fill the sink with ice cubes and a cup of rock salt. Turn the water on very low, shove the ice and salt down in with a wooden or plastic spoon, and then run it for a minute. Ice and rock salt are naturally abrasive and scrape away build up lining the inside of the disposal. Following the ice and salt, mix a cup of vinegar and ½ a cup of baking soda and pour that down the disposal with the motor running. This will kill off any bacteria. You can then turn off the motor and scrub down the rubber entry flaps with an old toothbrush.
